The 2024 Midway International Airport Full-Scale Exercise will explore each Midway International Airport stakeholder's roles and responsibilities in supporting the Chicago Department of Aviation response to an aircraft incident. The exercise will involve a hypothetical aviation incident on the tarmac involving a returning Rocky Mountain Airline aircraft experience a mechanical issue. The exercise will test coordination of response activities, establishing incident command and an incident command post, providing for the needs of injured and non-injured passengers, establishing a Joint Information Center to issue timely, accurate information and preparing for fatality management.
The Exercise Planning Team selected the objectives and aligned core capabilities.

3. Evaluate the ability of CDA and airport stakeholders to provide coordinated, relevant, timely, and actionable information to ensure a common operating picture in accordance with the Midway Airport Emergency Plan. |

4. Evaluate the ability of CDA to coordinate with partner agencies to issue timely, accurate emergency notification, external communications, and public information during a major incident in accordance with the Midway Airport Emergency Plan. |

5. Evaluate the ability of the CDA and the impacted airline to establish a Passenger Gathering Area and Friends and Relatives Center in accordance with the Midway Airport Emergency Plan. |

6. Evaluate the ability of the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office supported by Cook County Emergency Management and Regional Security to set up and support operations in a mass fatality event. |
